These can be made either as drop cookies or as pan cookies. Pan cookie version is pictured. The cookie dough is very similar to Toll House/chocolate chip cookie dough - the recipe on the chocolate chip package. I'm just going to post a copy of the recipe, which is from the Post Dispatch a number of years ago (probably 25 years, maybe more). I use any combination of chopped fruit and raisins - including dried cranberries, dried cherries, chopped apricots, chopped dates, etc. The drop cookie version calls for topping each cookie with a pecan half, but you can omit this and they still taste fine.
This recipe is one of my Christmas baking regulars - along with Nut Crunch candy (with or without nuts - recipe posted on this blog earlier), and apricot halves dipped in chocolate.
